Women are the big spenders when it comes to the virtual world.

Every day it seems we come across more research supporting the idea that women are becoming a big part of the on-line and digital marketplace.   A new study by Playspan, and VGMarket, seen here, is yet another indication that in the world of micro-transactions, women may be the big spenders.      As our media industry re-invents itself, the pull of women as a market force will have a considerable impact on content.

Some other recent news in the gaming sector is the new Vancouver company:  Silicon Sisters, reportedly Canada’s first game company run by women and making games for the female gamer.     The press release for their launch can be found here .    It’s so exciting to see women finding their place as creators and powerful audiences in digital media.
