Biography

Amanda Coles specializes in Canadian cultural policy with a specific focus on work and workers in the arts and cultural sector. Her doctoral dissertation in Comparative Public Policy in the Department of Political Science at McMaster University examines the role that film and television unions play in the development of policy and regulatory frameworks for the Canadian English-language independent film and television production sector. Publications include articles on current issues in Canadian cultural policy in the Canadian Journal of Communication, Cultural Trends, and for the Canadian Cultural Observatory. Amanda’s academic interests are complemented by a decade long career in production administration for the independent film and television production sector.
